At the recent RSA Conference in San Francisco, Dataminr CEO Ted Bailey sat down with NightDragon CEO Dave DeWalt and Morgan Stanley’s Head of Global Investments Dave Chen for a compelling conversation on the future of AI and real-time threat detection. Hosted as part of NightVision Live, in partnership with Nasdaq and Morgan Stanley, the interview explores Dataminr’s cutting-edge work in generative and agentic AI, real-world use cases across government and industry, and what’s next for the company.

Tell everyone what Dataminr does?
Dataminr has built an AI platform that processes over one million public data sources in text, image, video, sound, and sensor data. We’ve pioneered a category called multimodal fusion AI, which detects the earliest patterns of events, threats, and risks—faster and more comprehensively than any other capability.
Give us a few customer examples and some of your favorite and what are you doing for them.
If you walk into the White House Situation Room, you’ll see Dataminr on the wall. We detect events as they happen and provide the fastest real-time warnings. In that context, our platform informs the President daily on critical events.
We serve a wide range of customers, including over 100 U.S. government agencies and 20 international governments. In the corporate world, we work with two-thirds of the Fortune 50 and half of the Fortune 100, supporting use cases like physical security, cybersecurity, supply chain, insurance, logistics, and financial trading.
Talk about some of the leading edge or cutting-edge things you’re doing now.
In the era of Gen AI and Agentic AI, we’ve taken our product to the next level. Last year, we launched ReGen AI, which enhances our early detection capability with a live event brief that dynamically updates in real time.
We also introduced Intel Agents at RSA, our first Agentic AI feature. These agents write out critical context around detected events—whether it’s identifying the threat actor in a cyberattack or providing location history in a physical event. We’re expanding on this with client-tailored insights and more AI-driven capabilities, leveraging the exponential potential of agentic AI.
You’ve been compared to Tom Cruise in Minority Report. Can you talk about Dataminr’s work in predictive AI, or what you call “pre-gen”?
That’s one of my favorite topics. Over the past decade, we’ve built an archive of every event, threat, and risk we’ve detected—how they started and how they evolved.
Pre-gen AI uses that unique dataset to leverage generative and agentic AI to write out what might happen next. It’s not just prediction—it’s providing real-time, context-rich guidance to end users. It’s a very practical and tactical application of AI, and we’re proud to be pioneering it.
With all this innovation, what’s next for Dataminr? What’s the future in terms of go-to-market, product, and growth?
It’s a great question. As Dave alluded to, we recently raised a new round of capital, which included NightDragon and Fortress—both incredible partners. With that funding, we’re focusing on three key areas. First, we’re expanding internationally. Although Dataminr is already used on the ground in over 100 countries—from the Department of Defense to the United Nations—our international go-to-market presence hasn’t been fully built out, and this is a major opportunity for us. Second, we’re doubling down on our Gen AI and Agentic AI roadmap, continuing to invest in R&D to stay ahead of the curve. And third, we’re investing in partnerships—not just channel partnerships, but also in our platform API, which enables other companies to build on top of our real-time signals and integrate them into their own products. Of course, while our current focus is on growth, there may come a time when we look toward going public, and when that time comes, we’ll certainly be knocking on your door.
