Jim Rabuck’s brings proven defense industry experience and business development capabilities
Austin, TX — February 16, 2026 — NightDragon, a leading investment and advisory firm focused on cybersecurity, national security and safety, announced the appointment of Jim Rabuck as Vice President of Business Development, National Security and Defense, adding deep industry experience across defense, national security, and dual-use technologies and partnerships.
Rabuck joins NightDragon from the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), where he served as Director of DoDx and helped deploy significant capital into a wide variety emerging defense technology companies. He was one of the plank holders who helped catalyze DODx, leading to the explosion of defense tech growth and dual-use ecosystem within the Department of War, as well as the growth of the Defense tech ecosystem in Austin and abroad. Before government service, Rabuck also served in corporate business development roles at cybersecurity companies, including Check Point Software Technologies.
At NightDragon, Rabuck will add to existing experience on the team to expand engagement with U.S. and allied governments and strengthen the firm’s defense-focused partner, deal sourcing, and investment ecosystem. Based in Austin, Texas, Rabuck will additionally establish NightDragon’s presence in the region and deepen engagement with one of the nation’s leading hubs for defense and national security innovation. He will work out of NightDragon’s new Texas office, based in the Capital Factory.
